Which banks let you export transactions to CSV? We checked 29.
We reviewed the official help documentation of 29 banks, credit unions, and fintech platforms to answer one question bookkeepers ask constantly: can you get transactions out as a spreadsheet, or are you stuck with PDF statements? Last updated 2026-07-10. Data reusable with attribution (CC BY 4.0).
Key findings
- 12 of 29 institutions (41%) either impose material limits on spreadsheet exports or don't document one at all.
- Export windows are the hidden gap: even banks with CSV export often cap it (Capital One ~90 days, Wells Fargo 90 days by default, Halifax recent months only) while archives stay PDF-only.
- Formats are shrinking, not growing: USAA discontinued QFX/Direct Connect in late 2023, leaving CSV as its only self-serve export.
- Fintechs mostly do this well — Monzo, Revolut, Wise, PayPal, and Venmo all document CSV export — with Chime the notable exception (PDF statements only).

Methodology
Each row reflects what the institution's public, official documentation said when we checked it (last full review 2026-07-10). "CSV export documented" means an official help page describes a spreadsheet-friendly transaction export. "Limited" means the export exists but with material constraints — short history windows, desktop-only access, or business-tier-only availability. "No CSV docs found" means we could not find an official page documenting a CSV export; it does not prove the feature is absent behind login. This study grew out of maintaining 139 bank-specific conversion guides; institutions not listed are pending verification.
